Fullerton, Horace Hale and Peter B. McFarlane, some of the other individuals who originally owned stock in the association include Henry M. Teller (1830-1914), United States Senator and Secretary of the Interior; Nathaniel P. Hill (1832-1900), United States Senator; and Frederick Kruse, father of Ida Kruse McFarlane, founder of the Central City Opera House Association.

The Central City Opera House opened in 1878. It was built with funds generated by the Gilpin County Opera House Association. Capital stock in the association was sold in 1882 and consisted of 800 shares at $10 per share. The first president (1882-1888) of the association was David C. Non-profit organization founded in 1931 to manage and preserve the Central City Opera House located in Central City, Colo. and to direct annual summer opera festivals. Heirs of Peter McFarlane, who owned the Opera House prior to 1931, donated the building to the University of Denver in 1931.
